ഈ വിഷയത്തെ കൂടുതല്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കാന്‍, ആദ്യം ചില ചോദ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ചെന്നെത്തേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. മതവിശ്വാസവും വര്‍ഗ്ഗീയവാദവും തമ്മിലുള്ള അതിര്‍വരമ്പ് എവിടെയാണ്? ആരാണ് അത് തീരുമാനിക്കേണ്ടത്? വ്യക്തിയോ സമൂഹമോ? വര്‍ഗ്ഗീയവാദത്തില്‍ ചെന്നെത്താതെ മതവിശ്വാസത്തിന് സ്വതന്ത്രമായി നിലനില്‍ക്കാന്‍ എന്താണ് വേണ്ടത്? മതവിശ്വാസം നന്മ മാത്രം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കായി എന്ത് ചെയ്യണം? ഒപ്പം വളരെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ചോദ്യവും. മതേതരമായ ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിനാണോ, അതോ മതനിരപേക്ഷമായ ഒരു സമൂഹത്തിനാണോ, വര്‍ഗ്ഗീയവാദത്തെ ഏറ്റവും നന്നായി പ്രതിരോധിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുക? ---------------------------------- മതവിശ്വാസവും വര്‍ഗ്ഗീയവാദവും ഇന്ന് ഒരുപോലെ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിക്കപെടുകയും, പലപ്പോഴും ഒരേ അര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ പ്രയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന രണ്ടു വാക്കുകളാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ ഇവ രണ്ടും തീര്‍ച്ചയായും രണ്ടു മാനുഷിക അവസ്ഥകള്‍ തന്നെയാണ്. ഏതെങ്കിലും മതത്തില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും എന്നാല്‍ സാമുഹിക ജീവിതത്തിലും ബന്ധങ്ങളിലും ആ വിശ്വാസങ്ങള്‍ കൂടികലരാതെ നോക്കുന്നവരുമാണ് സാധാരണ മതവിശ്വാസികള്‍. എന്നാല്‍ ഏതെങ്കിലും മതത്തില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ആ മതം മാത്ര...

കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് ടെറസ്സില്‍ നില്‍കുമ്പോള്‍ ദുരെ ചേരിയിലെ കുറെ കറുത്ത കുട്ടികളെ ഞാന്‍ കണ്ടു. അപ്പോള്‍ അമ്മ പറഞ്ഞു "അവര്‍ ചീത്തയാണ്‌" സ്കുളില്‍ പോകാന്‍ കാറിലിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ തെരുവിലുടെ ജാഥയായി പോകുന്ന കുറെ കറുത്ത മനുഷ്യരെ കണ്ടു. അമ്മ പറഞ്ഞു "അവര്‍ ചീത്തയാണ്‌". വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുമ്പോള്‍, കീറിയ സാരി ചുറ്റി പൌഡര്‍ പുശിയ പെണ്ണുങ്ങളെ വഴിയില്‍ കണ്ടു. അമ്മ പറഞ്ഞു "അവര്‍ ചീത്തയാണ്‌". ഒടുവില്‍ ...... മരണകിടക്കയില്‍ പോലും അരികെ വരാന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത എന്നോട് അമ്മക്ക് പറയാനായില്ല നീ ചീത്തയാണെന്ന് ... പക്ഷെ .. ചുണ്ടുകളില്‍ ലിപ്സ്റ്റിക് പുരട്ടുന്നതിനിടയില്‍ എന്റെ അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞു "അവര്‍ ചീത്തയാണ്‌"

‘Love Jehad’ is a new phrase coined by the Sangh Parivar – that is being echoed in courtrooms and cabinets across the country. The Sangh Parivar has claimed that thousands of Hindu girls are being lured by Muslim boys into conversion to Islam and recruitment into ‘jehadi’ outfits. The women’s parents had filed complaints claiming the women had been abducted, and the Kerala High Court ordered them to stay with their parents for a week. At the end of the week one of the women had given a statement claiming she had been brainwashed into adopting Islam and shown ‘jehadi’ CDs. ഡല്‍ഹിയിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ കൂടും തോറും ഇവിടത്തെ അനധികൃത കോളനികളുടെ എണ്ണവും കൂടുകയാണ്. ഈ കോളനികളില് പ്രധാനമായും താമസിക്കുനതു മറ്റു സംസ്ഥാനങളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള കുടിയേറ്റകാരും, അവരെ ആശ്രേയിച്ചു (ചൂഷണം) ജീവിക്കുന്ന തദേശവാസികളും(ഈ തദേശവാസികളില്‍ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും ഏതാനും ദശകങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍പ്പ് സമീപമുള്ള സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും കുടിയേറിയവരാണ്) . ഈ കോളനി കളില്‍ യാതൊരു നിയന്ത്രണവുമില്ലാതെ കെട്ടിടങ്ങള്‍ ഉയരുകയാണ്. ഒരു തരത്തില്‍ ഉള്ള സ്റ്റാന്‍ഡേര്‍ഡ് പാലിക്കാത്ത ദുര്‍ബലങ്ങളായ കെട്ടിടങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നിന് പിറകെ ഒന്നായി ഇവിടെ നിര്മിക്കപെടുന്നു. മിക്ക കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും അഞ്ചും ആറും നിലകള്‍ ഉള്ളവയാണ്. ഒരു നില കെട്ടിടങ്ങള്‍ പെട്ടന്നു ബഹുനില കെട്ടിടങ്ങളായി മാറുന്നു. സ്ഥലത്തെ പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനില്‍ നില ഒന്നിന് Rs. 10,000/- കൈകൂലി കൊടുത്താല്‍ മാത്രം മതി. നമ്മുടെ കേരളത്തില്‍ നിന്നും ജോലിക്കായി ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്ന മധ്യ വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ പെട്ട നല്ലൊരു ശതമാനം പേരും താമസിക്കുന്നത് ഇത്തരം കോളനികളില്ലാണ്. എന്റെ ഭയം എന്തെന്ന്നാല്‍ ഡല്‍ഹി ഭൂകമ്പ സാധ്യതയുള്ള ഒരു മേഖലയില്‍ പെടുന്നതാണ് (zone 4). എല്ലാ വര്‍ഷവും വളരെ ചെറിയ ഭൂമി കുല്ലുക്കങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടെ സാധാരണമാ...
